There are seven main continents in the world. Each one of them is distinct from geographical and environmental factors. This article is about the highest point in all of the continents.

Asia – Mount Everest

Mount Everest is the highest in Asia, and also it is the highest mountain in the world too. It has a maximum height of 8,848 meters (29,035 ft) from the sea level. Mount Everest is located at the border between Nepal and China. Everest is a popular place among hill climbers. It was successfully climbed in 1953 by New Zealand’s Edmund Hillary and Tensin Knorr of Nepal.

Africa – Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is the highest point on the African continent. Kilimanjaro is a residual mountain, and also it is a dormant volcano. This mountain has three volcanic cones, called “Kibo,” “Mawenzi,” and “Shira.” The highest altitude of Kilimanjaro is 5,895 m (19,340 ft). Hans Mayer and Ludwig Przepzel reached the summit of this mountain in 1889.

North America – Mckinley mountain

The highest point in the North American continent is the Mckinley Mountain. This mountain is located in Alaska. Its height is 6,168 meters (20,237 feet) from the sea level. The first climber to reach the summit of Mckinley was an Alaskan man called Walter Harper.

South America – Aconcagua

The Aconcagua mountain of the Andes mountain range is the tallest in the Latin American continent. It is located in the border of Argentina, and It is 6,960 meters (22,834 feet) high. A Swiss mountaineer called Matthias Zurbriggen first reached to the summit of Aconcagua in 1897.

Europe – Mount Elbrus

The highest point in Europe is the Elbrus Mountain in Russia. It is above 18,510 feet (5,642 m) from the sea level. This mountain has two main cones. Khillar Khachirov climbed the lower cone in the year of 1829, and the other one was climbed by a team with Florence Crauford Grove in 1874.

Australia – Mount Kosciuszko

Usually, mountains on the continent of Australia are not as high as ones in the other continents. The highest point on the Australian continent is Mount Kosciuszko, located in New South Wales. The summit of this mountain is located at the height of 2,228 m (7,310 ft) above sea level. The first ascender of this mountain is Polish explorer called Paweł Strzelecki.

Antarctica – Mount Vinson

The Vinson Mountain is considered as the highest peak of Antarctica. The highest point of this mountain is located 4,897 meters (16,066 feet) above the sea level. American mountain climber Nicholas Clinch and a team successfully climbed the Mount Vinson in 1966. This mountain is 21 km long and 13 km wide and lies within the Sentinel Range of the Mountains.
